MBABANE – MP Welcome Dlamini, has pledged E5,000 to assist the youth of Msunduza Township to register and run a Waste Cooperative Society. The co-op will also assist the youth start businesses and improve their lives.

MP Welcome Dlamini added that he will not tolerate any form of gangesterism in the constituency. He called on each member of the community to be part of the anti-gangsterism effort.

MP Welcome Dlamini issued a strong call for action to address rising crime and gangsterism while advocating for youth entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, and the revitalisation of the township economy. Speaking at Msunduza constituency, MP Welcome Dlamini emphasised the urgent need for collaborative efforts to build a safer, more prosperous future for all. MP Welcome Dlamini expressed deep concern over the increasing crime rates and gang-related activities that threaten the safety and stability of communities. He urged residents law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and parents to work together to curb these challenges.

“Crime and gangsterism are destroying the future of our youth. We must strengthen community policing, enhance youth rehabilitation programmes, and provide alternative opportunities for young people to break free from crime,” he stated.

He further called on the private sector and civil society to support skills development and mentorship programmes to prevent at-risk youth from being lured into criminal activities.

As part of his broader vision for youth empowerment, MP Dlamini underscored the importance of entrepreneurship in providing sustainable livelihoods for young people. He highlighted the need for access to funding, business mentorship, and training programmes to help young entrepreneurs thrive.

“We must equip our youth with the necessary skills and resources to become job creators rather than job seekers. Government and private sector partnerships should focus on business incubation programmes, access to finance, and market linkages for youth-led enterprises,” he said.

MP Dlamini also reaffirmed his commitment to environmental sustainability, urging communities to adopt responsible waste management practices, conserve natural resources, and participate in green initiatives. He pointed out that economic growth must go hand in hand with environmental protection.

“A clean environment is essential for economic development. We must take action against illegal dumpsites and littering, and pollution. I call on residents  businesses, municipalities, and community members to embrace green entrepreneurship and circular economy models,” he stated. MP Dlamini pledged to support policies that promote renewable energy, climate adaptation, and sustainable land use to safeguard Eswatini’s natural heritage for future generations.

Recognising the potential of township businesses, MP Dlamini stressed the need to invest in the informal economy and ensure that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in townships receive the support they need to grow.

“Our local places are economic powerhouses that remain untapped. By investing in local businesses, improving infrastructure, and creating business-friendly policies, we can boost employment and drive economic transformation,” he said.

MP Dlamini called for financial institutions to offer accessible funding models tailored to small businesses and encouraged the government to create business hubs and industrial parks in township areas to stimulate economic activity.

MP Dlamini urged all stakeholders—government agencies, the private sector, community organisations, and citizens—to come together in addressing these critical issues.

“Eswatini’s future depends on the steps we take today. Let us work together to eliminate crime, empower our youth, protect our environment, and build a thriving national economy. Our collective action will determine the prosperity of our nation,” he emphasised.
