EZULWINI – The 2026 King’s Cup Golf Tournament has reached a historic milestone after the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Jane Mkhonta, announced that this year’s edition will be broadcast on SuperSport, giving the prestigious event unprecedented international exposure.
Speaking during the official launch of the 2026 King’s Cup Golf Tournament at the Libandla Room of the Royal Swazi Spa on Friday, the minister described the development as a landmark achievement that would firmly place Eswatini on the regional and international golfing map.
Mkhonta revealed that the breakthrough follows a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, the King’s Cup Committee and the Big Easy Tour, a globally recognised professional development circuit within the Sunshine Tour family.

She said the partnership significantly elevates the status of the King’s Cup by placing it on the regional professional golfing calendar while ensuring that highlights of the tournament are televised on SuperSport.
“This partnership significantly elevates the stature of the King’s Cup and places our tournament firmly on the regional professional golfing calendar,” she said.
The minister said the SuperSport broadcasts would provide Eswatini with unparalleled international visibility, showcasing the country’s tourism attractions to audiences across Africa and beyond.
She described the agreement as more than just a sporting achievement, saying it would strengthen Eswatini’s national brand, create new opportunities for local golfers and increase investor confidence.
Mkhonta said the King’s Cup had grown into much more than a golf tournament, evolving into a strategic platform for sports tourism, investment promotion and economic development.
“The King’s Cup has become a strategic platform for promoting sports tourism, attracting investment, showcasing our beautiful Kingdom and creating economic opportunities for our people,” she said.
She added that the tournament demonstrates how sport can be used as a vehicle to drive national development, forge partnerships and position Eswatini as a preferred destination for world-class sporting events.
The minister also used the occasion to pay tribute to His Majesty King Mswati III, under whose patronage the tournament is held. She noted that the launch comes as the country continues celebrating His Majesty the King’s 58th birthday and his 40th anniversary on the throne, describing his leadership as instrumental in advancing the Kingdom’s development.
The 2026 King’s Cup is now expected to attract greater regional attention as the new partnership with the Big Easy Tour and SuperSport marks a new era for one of Eswatini’s flagship sporting events.
