MBABANE – Miss Eswatini Temvelo Mtsetfwa took centre stage at Vulamasango School, inspiring pupils to embrace the opportunities before them and make the most of the second chance they have been given.

Speaking during the school’s festive celebrations on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) partners, she told the pupils, “You should be grateful for the second chance you have been given by the Commissioner General and the school.”

The event, was  filled with gifts, festive meals, and reflection, brought together pupils, staff, and key social partners, including the Council of Eswatini Churches and ESACRO. The Council, led by General Secretary Vusi Kunene, delighted pupils with packs of toiletries, soap, toothpaste, face towels, roll-on deodorants, and toothbrushes, bringing smiles and warmth to children away from home.

Deputy Commissioner General Bongani Khumalo, speaking on behalf of Commissioner General LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini, emphasised the importance of giving and community support. He said that the department’s social partners help sow “seeds of kindness” that guide pupils and incarcerated men and women towards becoming responsible citizens.

He recalled an inmate who spent ten years behind bars without a single visitor, highlighting the transformative power of generosity and compassion.

Former Vulamasango pupil Mbuso Mthembu also addressed the learners, urging them to carry forward the spirit of giving. “Let us become better citizens, both inside and outside these walls,” he said.

Miss Mtsetfwa’s presence underscored the role public figures play in motivating youth and promoting social responsibility. The celebration was a clear reminder that small acts of kindness, guidance, and support can leave a lasting impact on individuals and the wider community.
