MALKERNS – Few performances have the power to make thousands of people dance, sing, reflect and worship in the same evening, yet South African a cappella sensation The Soil achieved exactly that during a memorable appearance at the third edition of the MoMo Xperience.

Held on June 27, 2026, at Malkerns Country Club, the festival reached its emotional peak as the acclaimed trio delivered a deeply moving and musically rich performance that left a lasting impression on thousands of fans.

From the early hours of the evening, the venue came alive as music lovers streamed in for one of Eswatini’s most anticipated live entertainment events. The atmosphere was vibrant and energetic, with a strong opening lineup featuring Sphiwo Ndoni, DJ Mbo, Bholoja, and other local performers who kept the crowd fully engaged, setting a lively tone and building anticipation for the headline acts.

When The Soil finally took to the stage, the response was immediate and electric. The award-winning trio delivered their signature “Kasi Soul” sound—a seamless blend of township music, African rhythms, jazz, hip-hop and Afro-soul—performed entirely through vocal harmony, beatboxing and layered a cappella arrangements. Without a single instrument, they filled the venue with rich, powerful sound that showcased both technical excellence and deep emotional expression.

Formed in Soweto, Johannesburg, in 2003, The Soil began as a school choir known as Particles of the Soil at Tetelo Secondary School. What started as a group of more than 25 members gradually evolved into the internationally acclaimed trio it is today. Their breakthrough came with the release of their platinum-selling self-titled debut album in 2011, followed by celebrated projects such as Nostalgic Moments and Echoes of Kofifi, which established them as one of Africa’s most innovative vocal groups.

The current lineup features co-founder and lead vocalist Ntsika Fana Ngxanga, renowned beatboxer Luphindo “Master P” Ngxanga, and vocalist Theo “Songstress” Matshoba. Together, they continue to carry forward a legacy built on unity, creativity and emotionally resonant storytelling through music.

One of the night’s standout moments came with their performance of the timeless hit “Susan,” originally recorded with South African rapper Khuli Chana. The nostalgic classic instantly transformed the crowd into a unified choir, with thousands of fans singing every lyric in a powerful moment of shared memory and joy.

The emotional journey continued with a heartfelt rendition of “Baninzi,” where the group’s flawless harmonies and expressive delivery drew thunderous applause from an audience visibly moved by the performance. The atmosphere then shifted into a deeply reflective moment as The Soil led festival-goers in a soulful expression of gratitude and worship, creating a rare sense of unity, spirituality and collective emotion across the festival grounds.

The Soil was part of a star-studded headline lineup that also featured acclaimed South African singer-songwriter Lloyiso, whose powerful vocals captivated the audience, and celebrated DJ and producer Sam Deep, who closed the night with an energetic set that kept revellers dancing into the late hours.

Supported by strong performances from Eswatini’s own artists, the MoMo Xperience once again reinforced its growing reputation as one of the Kingdom’s premier cultural and entertainment festivals. The event continues to showcase African creativity at its finest while offering audiences a world-class live music experience.

As The Soil left the stage to roaring applause and repeated calls for an encore, they left behind more than a performance—they delivered a defining cultural moment of unity, emotion and musical excellence that will be remembered as one of the standout highlights of MoMo Xperience 2026.
