MBABANE- Eswatini’s music scene receives a powerful boost as the talented duo Nakekelo Mndzebele (popularly known as N Kay Musician) and Tanele Mndzebele (known as Smally The Vocalist) officially release their highly anticipated single, “Langa Lami.”
Released on Friday, January 9, 2026, the track is a collaborative effort with producer TNS Savvy, blending soulful Tribal music with rich traditional Swazi influences.
For the duo, the song is far more than just a melody; it serves as a personal mantra and a reflection of their arduous journey within the local industry. Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, the artists explained, “Langa Lami is more than just a song – it’s a personal mantra. We’ve been through ups and downs not us alone alone as N Kay & Smally but mostly of Eswatini artist.” The title, which translates to “my time to succeed,” stands as a poignant reminder that perseverance and timing are essential for any artist’s breakthrough.
The lyrics are deeply rooted in real-life challenges and the skepticism the duo encountered from their own community. “A lot has been said to us by people we expected to be our target market that’s why in between the lyrics there’s a line saying ‘Lasiphuma khona kukabhari kayi believe’ and this song represents our journey,” they shared. Through this track, N Kay and Smally aim to turn those past hardships into a source of motivation, noting that the message is universal: “Just believe in yourself, even when it feels like the world is moving slow. It’s about finding strength in patience and knowing that your breakthrough is on the way.”
The creative process for “Langa Lami” was a natural and fluid experience alongside producer TNS Savvy. The duo remarked, “Working with TNS Savvy was a blast, we brought Tribal music with traditional Swazi influences which brings both catchy and soulful emotions. So the process of the making of Langa Lami just flowed naturally, we jammed ideas and the song came together quickly.” This fusion of contemporary sounds and cultural roots is intended to offer listeners a sense of pride and a much-needed emotional boost.
