MANZINI – The 2026 Inyatsi Schools Arts and Culture Competitions received a major boost after the Eswatini Network of Women (Eswatini NOW) committed E100 000 towards the successful implementation of the programme, while Genesis Ekucaleni Media pledged an additional E50 000 specifically for the Drama and Theatre category.
The announcement was made during the official launch of the third edition of the competitions held at Inyatsi House in Manzini. Speaking on behalf of Eswatini NOW, Deputy Chairperson for Youth Empowerment, Lindelwa Makhanya described the contribution as an investment in young people, culture and the future of Eswatini. Makhanya also acknowledged the role played by Pholile Shakantu, who is the Patron and Chairperson of Eswatini NOW. She said Shakantu has always championed the empowerment of women and youth by creating opportunities, nurturing talent and encouraging emaSwati to contribute meaningfully to national development.
According to Makhanya, the partnership between Eswatini NOW, Inyatsi Foundation and the Eswatini Schools Arts and Culture Association continued to grow from strength to strength, with the competitions becoming an important platform for youth development, talent identification and cultural preservation in the country.She also highlighted the importance of arts and culture in creating career opportunities for young people. Makhanya said the creative industry is no longer viewed only as entertainment, but as an economic sector contributing to employment and entrepreneurship worldwide.
Makhanya further praised Genesis Ekucaleni Media For supporting storytelling and talent development through productions such as “New Dawn” and “BakNgwane”, which celebrate emaSwati heritage and culture.She encouraged learners to participate wholeheartedly in this year’s competitions and use the platform to proudly showcase their talents. Makhanya said opportunities like these could open doors to international stages for young creatives. The 2026 Inyatsi Schools Arts and Culture Competitions starting from 8 June 2026 are being held under the theme “Honouring 40 Years of Legacy Through Arts and Culture.”
