THEMBELIHLE – Joy and excitement filled the air today as the community of Thembelihle witnessed a major boost in education infrastructure.
The Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, officially handed over a new block of classrooms to Thembelihle Primary School and a state-of-the-art agriculture laboratory to Thembelihle High School—projects worth E2.1 million, funded by the Regional Development Fund (RDF).
More than just buildings, these new facilities represent a brighter future for learners, teachers, and the entire Thembelihle community.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dlamini described the structures as “a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing quality education for all our children.”
“These are not just brick and mortar,” he said. “They represent an investment in the future of Eswatini, a future where every child, regardless of background or location, has a fair chance to reach their full potential.”
The new classrooms at Thembelihle Primary will provide a more conducive learning environment for all learners, including the 45 Learners with Special Needs (LSN) who are fully integrated into the school system. Dlamini praised the school for its inclusivity and urged continued efforts to make all school infrastructure accessible and disability-friendly, including ICT resources.
Meanwhile, Thembelihle High School’s agriculture laboratory is already transforming education through innovation. The lab, a first for the school, is empowering students with hands-on agricultural skills. With 59 layer chickens producing an impressive 60 eggs per day, students are not only learning but also engaging in agribusiness—selling egg trays at E30 each.
“This is a game changer,” said the Minister. “Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy. This lab will provide practical skills that contribute to food security, sustainable development, and entrepreneurship.”
He further encouraged teachers to fully utilise the facilities, saying they are powerful tools for empowering both educators and learners. “To the learners—these classrooms and labs are yours. Use them to pursue your dreams. Remember, you are the future of our nation, and we believe in your potential.”
Funded through the RDF, these projects reflect Government’s commitment to grassroots development and align with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes inclusive and quality education for all.
The handover was a celebration of community collaboration, determination, and the shared vision of building a more educated and empowered Eswatini.
