LUNKUNTU— New homes handed over to vulnerable families across Nkilongo have turned years of hardship into hope, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude while the Deputy Prime Minister praised communities for caring for those in need.

At Lunkuntu, 26 year old Njabulo Mamba received a two-room house built with Taiwan’s support for his child headed family, while Gogo Reginah Mzileni received a one room house.

Njabulo expressed his appreciation on behalf of his siblings, saying the new home had given them something they had long needed  a place they could confidently call their own.

“Today I can point with and say here is home,” he said.

Gogo Reginah celebrated her new home through song, expressing her joy and appreciation during the handover.

Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla officially opened both houses and praised the Lunkuntu community for supporting vulnerable residents.

“I thank the Lunkuntu community for taking good care of those in need,” Dladla said.

The housing support extended to other vulnerable families in the area, including 31-year-old mother of five, Banele Mamba, whose two-room house at Lubulini, Mbutfu, was built with Taiwan’s support.

Banele expressed deep gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister, saying her difficult circumstances had ended while making a strong commitment to continue caring for her children.

“The rains have ended,” Banele said, describing the new home as a turning point after hardship.

She also vowed never to give up on her five children, despite the challenges she had faced.

At Kashoba, the Deputy Prime Minister also handed over a house and reminded beneficiaries of the responsibility that comes with receiving a new home.

She encouraged them to care for, maintain and cherish the houses, ensuring that the structures remain safe and useful for their families.

Dladla further called for stronger community bonds, saying His Majesty has sent leaders to see how emaSwati live.

She encouraged communities to love and care for one another and remain united.

The series of handovers demonstrates the impact that partnerships between government, development partners and communities can have in restoring dignity to vulnerable households.

For beneficiaries such as Njabulo, Gogo Reginah and Banele, the houses are more than walls and roofs. They represent safety, dignity and a renewed sense of hope.
