MATSAPHA – His Majesty King Mswati III has delivered an inspiring message to 198 graduating police recruits, calling their decision to join the service a “noble call of duty.”

“You have chosen a career of serving and protecting the nation from the perils of crime,” the King said. “You now join a team committed to maintaining peace, order, and the safety of all Emaswati.”

The monarch underscored the importance of teamwork, urging the new officers to adapt to the principles of collaboration. “Working together as a team will boost public confidence in your capabilities,” he affirmed.

His Majesty also reminded the recruits that policing is a full-time, all-time vocation. “You are expected to live and represent your calling at all times, 24/7,” he stated, stressing that integrity and public trust are the cornerstones of effective law enforcement.
The King’s address came after witnessing an impressive display of drills and tactical performances, which he described as evidence of the police service’s growing capabilities and preparedness.

In addition to addressing the new officers, His Majesty recognized the wider police force for fostering healthy relationships with the public and stakeholders. He praised ongoing legislative efforts aimed at strengthening these bonds and ensuring the police are seen as partners rather than adversaries.

He also acknowledged the strong regional ties with SADC law enforcement agencies, highlighting cooperative measures against transnational organized crime — a goal aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 for peace and socio-economic development.
The King also commended all involved in making the event a success, thanking the public, business community, and international partners for their continued support in building a safe and secure Eswatini.
