MBABANE– Eswatini’s drive to strengthen its education system has entered a new chapter following the swearing-in of newly appointed Teacher Service Commission (TSC) Commissioner Peter Mamba, whose appointment is expected to reinforce teacher professionalism, improve institutional efficiency and support the country’s long-term education reforms.
The Ministry of Education and Training officially welcomed Commissioner Mamba during a swearing-in ceremony that underscored Government’s continued commitment to building a high-quality education system capable of preparing learners for the demands of a rapidly changing world.
His appointment comes at a time when Eswatini is placing increased emphasis on improving learning outcomes, strengthening teacher management and ensuring that every learner has access to competent, motivated and professional educators.
Taking the oath of office, Commissioner Mamba pledged to execute his responsibilities with integrity, fairness and dedication while contributing to the advancement of the country’s education sector. His assumption of office signals renewed momentum for the Teacher Service Commission, one of the country’s most important institutions responsible for managing the teaching profession.
Speaking during the ceremony, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Training, Ms Nanikie Mnisi, congratulated Commissioner Mamba on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to provide strategic leadership that will further strengthen the Commission.
She said the Teacher Service Commission remains central to maintaining high standards within the education sector through effective recruitment, deployment, promotion and discipline of teachers in public schools.
The Principal Secretary encouraged the new Commissioner to lead with integrity, professionalism, accountability and transparency while promoting collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure that the Ministry’s vision of an inclusive, efficient and high-performing education system becomes a reality.
“The work of the Commission has a direct impact on the quality of education delivered in our classrooms. Strong leadership and sound governance are essential in ensuring that teachers are empowered to perform their duties effectively for the benefit of every learner,” she said.
The Teacher Service Commission plays a critical role in ensuring that schools across the country are staffed by qualified and competent educators. Beyond recruitment and promotions, the Commission safeguards professional standards within the teaching profession while helping create a stable environment where teachers can focus on delivering quality education.
Education remains one of the key pillars of Eswatini’s national development agenda, with Government continuing to invest in strengthening institutions that support teaching and learning. Effective leadership within the Teacher Service Commission is therefore expected to contribute to improved service delivery, stronger accountability and enhanced confidence in the country’s education system.
Commissioner Mamba’s appointment is also expected to support ongoing efforts aimed at modernising teacher management systems, improving operational efficiency and ensuring that schools have the human resources needed to deliver quality education across the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Education and Training reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the new Commissioner as he begins his tenure, expressing optimism that his leadership will help build a more resilient, responsive and forward-looking education sector.
For teachers, learners and parents, the swearing-in represents far more than a change in leadership. It reflects Government’s continued commitment to investing in human capital, strengthening public institutions and creating an education system that equips young people with the knowledge, skills and values needed to contribute meaningfully to Eswatini’s future development.
As Commissioner Mamba begins his new responsibilities, expectations are high that his experience and leadership will further strengthen the Teacher Service Commission’s mandate and help position the country’s education sector for sustained growth and excellence in the years ahead.
