TAIPEI, TAIWAN – His Majesty the King has emphasised the critical nature of international partnerships during state talks, stating that no country can go forward on its own without the support of others.

Addressing President Lai Ching-te at the Presidential Office, the Ingwenyama said that Eswatini, as one of Africa’s developing nations, is working with other African countries towards the shared goal of realising Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want. He said cooperation and mutual support are essential to making progress together.

“Realising that no country can go forward on its own and that cooperation and mutual support are essential, this visit allows Eswatini to explore further opportunities to cooperate more effectively,” His Majesty noted.

Eswatini is keen to draw from Taiwan’s vast experience in specific areas such as agro-industry and technology to help advance the kingdom’s development. His Majesty commended Taiwan’s achievements in peace, stability and progress across many areas.

The King stated that true friends are there in good times and bad and Eswatini remains firm in its support for Taiwan.

His Majesty also conveyed a personal message from Her Majesty the Queen Mother, who was invited by the President to visit Taiwan. He said she is unable to travel at this time as she must preside over an important traditional ceremony that takes place annually in Eswatini from November to January, but would be happy to visit as early as next year once the ceremony is complete.

PRESIDENT LAI KEEN TO SEE MORE TAIWANESE INVESTORS IN ESWATINI

TAIPEI, TAIWAN – President Lai Ching-te has expressed a strong desire for a deepened economic partnership with Eswatini, declaring that the nation is looking forward to seeing more Taiwanese companies investing in the kingdom.

Welcoming King Mswati III and Liphovela Zuma, the president stated that Taiwan will continue to deepen its diplomatic ties and advance industrial development.

A vital component of this strategy is the establishment of the Taiwan Industrial Innovation Park, for which the president expressed special gratitude to His Majesty and the Eswatini government for their support.

“We look forward to seeing more Taiwanese companies investing in Eswatini and making it a major gateway into African markets,” President Lai said, highlighting that this will further strengthen the economic partnership between the two nations.

Through this and other bilateral cooperation endeavours, the president aimed to enhance the welfare of both peoples and the advancement of industrial development.

In addition to economic development, the President praised the King’s leadership, congratulating him on assuming the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation this year.

The president also thanked His Majesty and the government of Eswatini for their long support of Taiwan’s international participation, particularly for being their voice at the United Nations General Assembly.

The bilateral talks were followed by the signing of an Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, which the President termed an important milestone in deepening judicial cooperation.
