NGWENYA– Rap sensation Simphiwe Parkim, professionally known as PacMan SD, is rapidly becoming one of Eswatini’s most compelling voices in hip-hop.
At just 26, the artist is gaining widespread attention for his sharp lyricism, authentic Siswati delivery and motivational messages that resonate deeply with audiences across the country.
PacMan SD’s music is rooted in kasi rap, blending cultural identity with uplifting themes that encourage ambition, resilience and community unity. His distinctive style and commitment to purposeful storytelling have quickly positioned him as a rising force in the local music industry.
He fondly recalls how his passion for rap was sparked during his school years.
“When we started making music, the future looked uncertain,” he says. “Back in grade 6, on Fridays when we were supposed to be cleaning, my friends and I would sneak into a classroom. We used desks as drums and battled fiercely. Membhathiso Dlamini, Master Beat was our beat maker. Those raw, unpolished moments sparked something in me.”
He adds, “I’m grateful for the journey that began in that little classroom.”
Driven by purpose, PacMan SD aims to use his artistry to uplift others.
“My goal is to create music that fosters a sense of community and inspires positive change through its message,” he explains. His work consistently promotes unity, motivation and self-belief, making him a relatable figure among young people navigating everyday challenges.
His debut project, Black Extended Play, marked an important milestone in introducing his artistic identity. The seven-track EP blends empowerment, street storytelling and introspection, featuring collaborations with Smooth Ramz, Mthobisi and PLord. Standout songs such as Black Anthem, Ziphi Lah and Delayed Visions highlight his growth, his bold tone and his commitment to purposeful rap.
PacMan SD’s rise accelerated with the viral success of Makasane, which gained massive attention after a wheelbarrow stunt performance captured 160 000 views on Facebook and 60 000 more on TikTok. His later single, Army Commander, released on 23 October 2025, has since become a street favorite across multiple communities.
Another major career breakthrough was hosting #FillUpPrimavera2025, an event that drew more than 600 attendees and showcased 30 local artists and DJs including Mic Piggy, Sewakhile Comedy and Jack Rhallie. The event blended music, lifestyle and culture, while also serving as an important platform for both emerging and established talent.
With growing momentum, dedicated fans and unwavering determination, PacMan SD continues to cement his place as one of Eswatini’s most promising rap talents—poised for even greater heights.
