MBABANE – Phondo Inkhundla Member of Parliament Bonginkhosi Dube has called for improved road infrastructure and strengthened support for elderly citizens as Parliament continues deliberations on the national budget.
Dube made the remarks on Monday, March 9, 2026, while contributing to the 2025/26 annual performance debate of the Ministry of Finance in the House of Assembly. The debate session was chaired by Lobamba Lomdzala MP Marwick Khumalo.
During his contribution, the MP highlighted key development priorities affecting residents of Phondo Inkhundla, emphasizing the importance of projects that directly improve community livelihoods.
He pointed to the need for road upgrades in parts of the constituency, noting that improved road conditions would support ongoing development initiatives, including construction of the Inkhundla offices.
According to Dube, rehabilitating roads early would make it easier to transport building materials and help ensure the project progresses efficiently.
Dube also proposed that the Office of the Auditor General be allocated dedicated office space. He said a permanent facility would strengthen the institution’s ability to perform its oversight role effectively, particularly in safeguarding the proper use of public funds.
In addition, the MP highlighted the welfare of senior citizens, encouraging Government to review grants provided to elderly people. He noted that these grants play an important role in supporting many elderly citizens with their daily needs.
Dube expressed optimism that ongoing parliamentary discussions would contribute to practical solutions that enhance service delivery and support continued development across communities.
