NHLETJENI – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has reaffirmed government’s commitment to agricultural development by handing over a tractor with a tipping trailer and other implements to Nhletjeni Multipurpose Cooperative.

The E1.6 million project, funded through the Regional Development Fund, aims to boost crop and vegetable production in the region.

The cooperative, consisting of 25 members, specializes in agricultural production and is expected to benefit significantly from the mechanization support. Speaking during the handover ceremony, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to empowering smallholder farmers and cooperatives, ensuring they have the necessary resources to enhance food security and economic growth.

“This initiative is part of our broader strategy to modernize agriculture and improve productivity. By equipping cooperatives with essential tools, we are fostering sustainable livelihoods and economic resilience,” said Dlamini.

Members of the cooperative expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting that the new equipment will ease labor-intensive farming processes and increase yields.

Government continues to prioritize agricultural investment through various programs, with plans to extend similar assistance to other cooperatives across the country.
