MATSAPHA – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has reaffirmed the Royal Eswatini Police Service’s unwavering loyalty and continued service to Their Majesties, describing the police service as a pillar of national order, peace and confidence in the Kingdom.
Speaking on behalf of His Majesty’s Government during the 23rd Police Day celebrations held at the Police Academy in Matsapha on Friday, under the theme, ‘policing with agape love’ the Prime Minister, who also serves as Minister of Police, paid tribute to the men and women of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) for their dedication and sacrifice over the institution’s 119 years of distinguished service to the nation.
The celebrations were attended by His Majesty King Mswati III and Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, whose presence, the Prime Minister said, added great significance to the occasion as the nation continues to celebrate His Majesty’s 40 years of reign and leadership.
“It is my profound honour, on behalf of His Majesty’s Government, to offer these brief remarks on this august occasion before humbly inviting His Majesty the King to address this distinguished gathering,” said the Prime Minister.
He said under His Majesty’s guidance, the Royal Eswatini Police Service had evolved into a modern, disciplined and people-centred institution that remains firmly anchored in the values, traditions and dignity of the Kingdom.
“Under His Majesty’s guidance, the Royal Eswatini Police Service has grown from its earlier foundations into a modern, disciplined and people-centred institution, firmly anchored in the values, traditions and dignity of our Kingdom,” he said.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the loyalty, courage and sacrifice demonstrated by police officers, both past and present, in preserving peace, upholding the law and safeguarding the nation’s security.
He further described the police service as a pillar of order and national confidence, whose continued advancement in professionalism, capacity, regional cooperation and community service reflects both His Majesty’s leadership and the commitment of every officer serving the nation.
“On this honoured day, we reaffirm, with humility and resolve, the loyalty of the Service and that of Government to His Majesty the King, and our shared duty to protect, to serve, and to build the nation,” he said.
In a symbolic gesture of loyalty and appreciation, the Royal Eswatini Police Service presented three cattle to His Majesty King Mswati III and two cattle to Her Majesty the Indlovukazi during the celebrations.
The presentation underscored the close relationship between the monarchy and the police service, as well as the institution’s continued commitment to serving Their Majesties and the people of Eswatini.
The 23rd Police Day celebrations also marked 119 years of faithful and distinguished service by the Royal Eswatini Police Service, highlighting its enduring role in maintaining peace, security and stability in the Kingdom.
