NYAMANE– When poetry becomes prayer and worship becomes a celebration, the stage transforms into more than entertainment — it becomes a place of healing, hope and spiritual connection.
This is the vision behind The Perfection Night of Worship and Poetry, set for 4 September at Nyamane Primary School in the Shiselweni Region, where Eswatini poet Mncedisi Phinda Kunene, popularly known as Mncedy The Poet, will bring together worshippers, gospel musicians and poets for a night centred on faith and creativity.
Born and raised in Nyamane, Phinda said the event is deeply personal, inspired by his seven-year journey as a poet and his decision to take his craft into professional studio recording.
“I started writing in 2013, and in 2020 I recorded my first poem,” said Phinda.
He explained that the number seven played a significant role in shaping the concept of the event, as it symbolises completeness, divine perfection and fullness.
“The Perfection Night of Worship and Poetry was derived from that. I felt that it was done, now the world shall hear what has been completed,” he said.
The event will feature a diverse line-up designed to take audiences through different expressions of Christian worship and poetry. Performers include Sihle Nkonde, Sphe Intombi Yetende, Young Artist, Portia N, Mzuzwana, Phila Mnisi, Poet Amandla, Lizwe Umlangeni, OPK, Thandumusa Malinga, Zishwili Imbongi and Siya Imbongi, among others.
Phinda said he deliberately selected artists with different approaches to ministry to ensure that the night offers something beyond conventional performances.
“There are those that will worship and make you dance in the presence of the Lord,” he said, adding that others are expected to change the atmosphere and inspire audiences to reflect and pray.
For Phinda, the gathering is also about using talent to point people back to its source.
“Everyone has to know that all talents belong to God, hence we need to come back to God in thanksgiving in any way He has blessed us with,” he said.
He hopes young people will be inspired to recognise the value of their God-given talents, while those facing difficult seasons will find encouragement through the poetry and worship.
With entrance set at E20 for adults, E10 for children and free entry for those aged 60 and above, Phinda is calling audiences to Nyamane for an uncommon night where poetry, music, faith and community meet.
