SIDVOKODVO – Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe was more than a member of the Eswatini Royal Family to King Misuzulu kaZwelithini of the Zulu Kingdom, who described her as a mother figure and paid tribute to her life of service, humility and inspiration.
The message from His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini was delivered by Prince Zuzifa Buthelezi on behalf of the Zulu King during Princess Lindiwe’s state funeral service held at Sidvokodvo, her maternal homestead.
Prince Zuzifa conveyed the condolences of the Zulu Royal Family to His Majesty King Mswati III and Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, the Royal Family and the people of Eswatini during the period of mourning.
Speaking on behalf of King Misuzulu, Prince Zuzifa said the Zulu monarch regarded Princess Lindiwe as a figure who had played an important role in his life and described her as being like a mother to him.
“His Majesty King Misuzulu KaZwelithini says, may the princess rest in peace. She was like a mother to him,” Prince Zuzifa said, delivering the message from the Zulu King.
He said King Misuzulu believed Princess Lindiwe had fulfilled her responsibilities with strength and dedication and hoped that the example she had set in her lifetime would continue to inspire others.
The Zulu Royal Family further paid tribute to Princess Lindiwe’s contribution to society, describing her life as an example of servant leadership, education, social cohesion and moral regeneration.
“Her Royal Highness lived a life which demonstrated to us the inestimable value of servant leadership, education that insisted on humanity, social cohesion, and moral regeneration,” the message stated.
The Zulu King also acknowledged Princess Lindiwe’s role as a pastor and her marriage to a pastor, saying her life had left an enduring lesson for the Zulu Kingdom.
“The Zulu Kingdom has taken a leaf from her earthly journey,” the message stated.
Princess Lindiwe was also remembered for the years she spent studying overseas and working in different places in Eswatini, experiences which, according to the Zulu Royal message, enriched her contribution to humanity.
Her life was described as being marked by love, peace, humility, resoluteness and inspiration, with the Zulu Royal Family saying she encouraged those who knew her to believe in themselves and strive to be the best wherever they were.
The message reflected the close historical and cultural ties between the Zulu and Eswatini Royal Families, with Prince Zuzifa conveying the condolences directly from the Zulu monarch to the Eswatini Royal Family and the nation.
The Zulu Royal Family said Princess Lindiwe’s passing was deeply felt, extending its strength and condolences to those mourning her death.
The state funeral at Sidvokodvo brought together members of the Eswatini Royal Family, traditional leaders, clergy, government representatives, mourners and members of the public to honour the life and legacy of Princess Lindiwe.
Through the message delivered by Prince Zuzifa, King Misuzulu joined the mourners in remembering a woman whose life, according to the Zulu Royal Family, was defined by service, humanity and an enduring commitment to inspiring others.
