MBABANE- A bi-cultural voice from Eswatini shares truth, passion, and emotional growth.
Ntando Dlamini, known by her stage name as Sarnilo, a rising singer, songwriter, and composer from Eswatini, is making waves with her newest single Different Dimensions. Known for her unique sound that fuses R&B, Hip-Hop, and Afro-fusion, Sarnilo draws from her dual Swati and Malawian roots, creating a musical experience that is rich in culture and storytelling.
Based in Mbabane, Sarnilo sings in English, siSwati, and Chichewa, a true reflection of her cross-cultural identity and deep love for music. “I’m an overall music fanatic,” she says proudly.
The story behind Different Dimensions is as dynamic as the track itself. “Funny enough, it was Stickx, one of the producers, who came up with the title,” she shares. What began as an idea for a different song turned into a spontaneous collaboration during a studio camp with a group of talented artists including Stickx, Vuyo, Dr Bass, Sihlangu, Salie Sousa from South Africa, and final touches by mixing and mastering engineer Brainz.
“This song was really a collaborative effort,” Sarnilo explains. “What we created was even better than what I had initially envisioned.”
At the heart of Different Dimensions lies a powerful message about emotional honesty. “I wanted to promote bravery in sharing your feelings with someone,” she says. “It may not always work out, but at least you shared your truth. Sometimes the person you think is right for you, turns out to be wrong.”
Listeners are not just hearing a song, they’re being invited into Sarnilo’s world. “I hope my audience gets to know me better through this track. A glimpse of how I approach love and relationships, and hopefully, they relate to it too.”
Sarnilo admits that her journey hasn’t just been about the music, it’s also been about learning how the music industry works. “A lot of these lessons you learn on the job,” she says. “But it’s made me a better artist, more open-minded and eager to absorb because music is always evolving, from genres to platforms.”
She emphasizes the importance of fan engagement in her journey. “I love to hear from my listeners, I make music so people don’t feel alone.”
Sarnilo is set to perform Different Dimensions live at the annual Diva’s Concert, an event she’s thrilled to be part of. Even more exciting, she’s currently working on her debut album.
