MBOMBELA – Eswatini rapper Lyrikal Busta has taken another step towards expanding his footprint beyond the kingdom after his newly released single, Sekulate, made an energetic live debut before a packed crowd at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
The performance came just a day after the song’s official release on July 17, with fans giving the collaboration featuring South African artist Tribal Guru a warm reception during the One Night with Phumla Music and Friends concert.
The show, hosted by Phumla Music, attracted music lovers from across Mpumalanga and featured an impressive line-up that included Mnqobi Yazo, Aymos, Nomakhosini, Leebombo and Lyrikal Busta, turning the event into a celebration of African music and cross-border collaboration.
For Lyrikal Busta, the debut performance marked more than just another stage appearance. It was the first opportunity to introduce Sekulate to a live audience, and the response exceeded expectations as fans cheered throughout the performance and sang along to the infectious chorus.
“Performing Sekulate for the first time was a memorable experience. The crowd showed us a lot of love and energy from the beginning of the performance. I appreciate everyone who has supported the song since its release and this is only the start of the journey,” said Lyrikal Busta.
The momentum has also extended to digital platforms. According to the rapper, the official music video surpassed 2,500 YouTube views within five days of its release, reflecting growing interest from audiences in both Eswatini and South Africa.
Blending Lyrikal Busta’s signature lyrical delivery with Tribal Guru’s African Trap influence, Sekulate fuses hip-hop, trap and Afro-inspired sounds into a vibrant collaboration aimed at reaching a wider regional audience.
Lyrikal Busta said the collaboration forms part of his vision to take his music beyond Eswatini’s borders through strategic partnerships with artists from across the continent.
Following its successful debut in Mbombela, the rapper revealed that more promotional performances and appearances are planned in the coming weeks as he and Tribal Guru continue pushing Sekulate across digital streaming platforms and live stages.
