MBABANE – Shukuma Eswatini, under the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council, donated food parcels to three elderly residents of the Mbabane West constituency during a handover ceremony held today and led by Indvuna Yenkhundla Phinda Maziya.

The gesture forms part of Shukuma’s commitment to giving back to the community, following an exercise session hosted in Mbabane last December at the Prince of Wales.

Maziya explained that during the event, Shukuma expressed a desire to support elders from the Mbabane West constituency. “As they were exercising their bodies at Prince of Wales, Shukuma decided to give back to the community. They asked us to select three elders, one from each of our constituency’s three chiefdoms,” he said.

The selected beneficiaries were; Phumzile Shabangu from Mangwaneni,Teresa Vilakati from Manzana, andSiphiwe Hlatshwayo. Each elder received a food parcel consisting of 10kg maize meal, 10kg rice, 10kg brown sugar, 5kg beans, 5kg emabele (sorghum), 5 litres of cooking oil, 1kg salt, 2kg washing powder, 12 bars of Sunlight soap, and sachets of Knorr soup.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Phumzile Shabangu expressed heartfelt appreciation: “We are truly grateful for this generous donation. May God multiply wherever it comes from.”

This initiative reflects Shukuma’s broader vision to promote community wellness, not only through physical activity, but also through meaningful social support for vulnerable groups like the elderly.
