MANZINI – Simunye Fest is widening its regional footprint after being featured at the launch of the Eswatini Tourism Events Calendar in Maputo, Mozambique, bringing the festival into conversations with tourism and events players from both countries.
The launch brought together tourism stakeholders, tour operators, travel agencies, events companies, festivals and media, creating a space for organisers to connect and explore the role of events in attracting visitors across the region.
For Simunye Fest, the appearance offered more than a chance to promote the festival. It placed the event alongside other attractions within Eswatini’s tourism calendar and opened conversations with Mozambique’s tourism, travel, events and media industries.
The festival also used the platform to give attendees a taste of what makes its entertainment offering different. While music and cultural programming remain at its centre, Fun Fair Gardens forms another part of the experience, bringing carnival games and attractions into the mix.
This broader approach reflects the changing character of festivals, where audiences increasingly look for experiences that go beyond a main stage.
Simunye Fest is scheduled to take place from 23 to 25 October at Vuvulane Sports Ground, bringing its combination of music, culture and funfair entertainment to audiences in Eswatini.
The Maputo engagement comes at an interesting point for the festival as it works to build relationships outside the country. Connections with tourism operators, travel agencies and media could also help introduce the event to potential visitors from Mozambique.
Rather than simply selling a festival experience, Simunye Fest is positioning itself within a regional entertainment and tourism conversation one where music, culture and travel can bring audiences across borders.
With October still ahead, the festival’s presence in Maputo gives a glimpse of its wider ambitions: attracting not only local festivalgoers, but audiences who may be willing to cross the border for the experience.
