LUBOMBO – Sincomo Hlaze, the founder and director of the Sithobela Youth Society in Eswatini, has earned a nomination in the Best Young Achiever Community Leader of the year category at the upcoming Young Achievers Africa Awards.
This continental recognition celebrates transformative youth leaders from across Africa, and Hlaze’s work has placed him among the top finalists which includes 11 other African Nominees.
The awards ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, 17 May 2025 at Century Park in Rwanda. Hlaze’s nomination comes in acknowledgment of his impactful contributions to the Sithobela community, particularly in youth empowerment, environmental awareness, and grassroots development.
Under Hlaze’s leadership, the Sithobela Youth Society has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have not only uplifted the community but also created platforms for young people to shine. Among these achievements are local talent shows that have helped identify and nurture gifted individuals, some of whom now compete at national levels representing Sithobela. He also introduced the crowning of Mr and Miss Sithobela, a cultural initiative aimed at promoting confidence, identity, and leadership among the youth.
In addition to fostering talent, Hlaze has championed environmental sustainability through awareness campaigns and green projects. He has also mobilized young people to take action in improving local infrastructure, such as volunteering their labour to work on the region’s neglected roads.
This nomination not only puts Sithobela on the map but also places Eswatini in the spotlight for producing young leaders who drive real change from the ground up. However, Hlaze’s journey to Rwanda is not without challenges. The trip is self-funded, and he is currently seeking support from individuals and organizations willing to assist with transport costs and other logistics to ensure his attendance at this prestigious event.
Anyone interested in supporting Sincomo Hlaze’s journey or learning more about the Sithobela Youth Society can reach out through the organization’s official social media pages or contact him directly at 7819 2118.
This nomination is a testament to what community-driven leadership can achieve, and with support, Hlaze hopes to bring the award home to Sithobela.
