LOBAMBA – Easter holidays are only a couple of days away, and House of Assembly Speaker Jabulani Mabuza reminded Members of Parliament of the spiritual guidance shared by His Majesty King Mswati III and Her Majesty Indlovukazi during the year-opening prayer at Mandvulo Hall.
Speaking during the Senate Portfolio Committee on Communication on March 31, 2026, Speaker Mabuza highlighted the King’s message on Agape Love and the Queen Mother warning against “selling of the truth.” He linked these lessons to Parliament’s responsibilities, urging MPs to reflect on their service to the nation.
Quoting 1 Corinthians 6:20, the Speaker reminded MPs that “we were bought with a price,” a message especially timely as the nation approaches Good Friday (April 3) and Easter Sunday (April 5), which will be celebrated at the National Church in Lobamba and Somhlolo National Stadium. Led by His Majesty King Mswati III and Her Majesty the Queen Mother.
Worshippers traditionally wear black on Good Friday to mourn and white on Easter Sunday to celebrate the resurrection.
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who, according to Christian belief, was crucified on Good Friday to atone for the sins of humanity. His death and resurrection on Easter Sunday symbolize redemption, forgiveness, and the promise of eternal life for all believers.
Families also embrace outdoor activities and community gatherings over the long weekend. The “Unwrap Your Easter Adventure” campaign encourages visits to landmarks such as Sibebe Rock or national parks like Hlane Royal National Park. Picnics in scenic areas, traditional meals such as fish with pap and vegetables, and organized Easter egg hunts for children are common.
As statutory holidays, schools, government offices, and many businesses will be closed, while domestic travel peaks as Emaswati visit relatives in rural areas or explore nature retreats. Easter in Eswatini remains a time of reflection, worship, and cherished family moments.
