MANZINI– Eswatini music producer and DJ Mnelisi Simelane, professionally known as Stoic Tunes, is inviting listeners into a new chapter of his musical journey with the release of his latest project, OA II: Bassline Mist, now available on major digital streaming platforms.
Known for his Deep House and Afro House productions, Stoic Tunes says the project reflects his growth as an artist while showcasing the different dimensions of his sound. Rather than releasing a full-length album as initially planned, he chose to introduce OA II: Bassline Mist as a project that marks a fresh chapter in his career and allows listeners to experience both the soulful and energetic sides of his artistry.
“The main message behind OA II: Bassline Mist is to remind listeners that Stoic Tunes represents more than one sound,” Simelane explained, adding that the project blends emotional Deep House with the rhythmic energy of Afro House while exploring themes of growth, emotion and connection through music.
As both the producer and musician behind the project, Simelane was involved in every stage of its creation, from composing melodies and designing sounds to arranging tracks and making the final artistic decisions. He believes producing his own music allows him to remain authentic and stay true to the identity of Stoic Tunes.
The project draws inspiration from soulful Deep House, Afro House, jazz and African musical expression. Simelane said jazz has had a significant influence on his creative approach, making it especially meaningful when renowned South African jazz artist Nduduzo Makhathini praised the track Bona from the project. The recognition affirmed the musical direction he has continued to pursue.
According to Simelane, OA II: Bassline Mist continues the story that began with The Introduction, a collaborative project with Ace4nic featuring the song Entry Point. He describes the new release as an exploration of his identity and a continuation of his evolution as a producer.
Releasing the project independently came with its own challenges, particularly balancing the creative process with promotion and ensuring the music reached the right audience. However, Simelane said consistency, patience and trusting his artistic vision helped him overcome these obstacles.
Listeners can stream OA II: Bassline Mist on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and other major digital streaming platforms. Simelane encouraged music lovers to support independent artists, saying every stream and share helps him continue creating meaningful music.
