BELGRADE, SERBIA: Two emaSwati students who were studying in Ukraine when the war with Russia broke out have thanked His Majesty and government for saving them.
The two former students of war-torn Ukraine who thanked His Majesty the King when he met emaSwati students on Sunday evening, for government’s evacuation efforts that saw them leave safely. They are also appreciative of being given an opportunity to pursue their studies in another country.
This was during an introductory dinner hosted by the Eswatini embassy in honour of the King’s first visit to Serbia, held at the Hyatt hotel on Sunday evening.
Although Khensani Langa would have loved to continue her vetenary studies, she has had to enrol for an International Relations degree course instead.
Vukile Dlamini, on the other hand, has been able to pursue her medicine degree course. All of the Emaswati students are enrolled at the Belgrade University.
When addressing the students, His Majesty acknowledged the students appreciation and said the Eswatini government was particularly grateful to the Serbian government, which played a significant role in ensuring a safe exit from Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Eswatini ambassador to Brussels responsible for Serbia, Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu appreciated the King for undertaking his first visit to Serbia and finding time to meet emaSwati studying here.
His words were echoed by Foreign Affairs Minister Pholile Shakantu who invited the King to address the gathering.
