MBABANE – The Athletics Eswatini (AE) gets down to business early in the year as it will hosts the Track & Field for under-18 at Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday (January 11, 2025).
The qualifiers are for selecting team that will represent the country in the Under-18 African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region-5 set for Madagascar later in the year. AE announced on Tuesday that registration deadline for the athletes is on Thursday (January 9, 2025) at 5pm and submission must be directed to the AE office, email swz@mf.worldathletics.org with contact number being 7607 5994 and 7848 7448.
Only athletes born between 2007 and 2009 will be eligible to compete in the qualifiers. The athletes must be under the age of 19 year by December 31, 2025. To prove their age, the athletes must bring along their birth certificates or passports that have been issued a year before the games.
“Athletics Eswatini invites all clubs to the Track & Field U18 AUSC Region-5 Qualifier on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Mavuso Sports Centre, Manzini, starting at 08:30am. Don’t let the deadline outrun you; submit your entries by Thursday, January 9, 2025. Let’s come together to cheer and support our athletes,” reads a statement from AE.
For the track events, the athletes will compete in events including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1 500m, 3 000m, 5 000m and the 4X 100m while for the field events, there is the shot put, high jump, long jump, triple jump and javelin.
