DWALILE– Usuthu Royal Trust has donated a newly-built house to Gogo Mndzebele, an elderly resident of Dwalile community, outside Bhunya, who had faced the harsh realities of life alone.

The handover was facilitated by Dr Absalom Themba Dlamini, the Managing Director of Tibiyo Taka Ngwane, in his role as Chairman of the Trust, accompanied by notable figures such as Zondwako Chief Velamuva Maseko and Prince Muzi Dlamini, who represented Montigny. The event carried an air of significance.

It was clear that this initiative was more than just a charitable act; it was a testament to the royal commitment to uplift the community, as pronounced by His Majesty King Mswati III, Dr Dlamini told the small gathering of neighbours and onlookers. As Dr Dlamini addressed the gathering, he emphasised that this act of giving was a direct command from His Majesty, who is deeply concerned about the welfare of the elderly and children in the kingdom.

Dr Dlamini’s words resonated with the community, urging them to take an active role in caring for their elders, children and vulnerable households. “We are not done,” he declared, hinting at future projects that would continue to empower those in need. His challenge to the community was clear: protect and cherish the elderly, like Gogo Mndzebele, who had endured the loss of two of her houses to weather elements, including a devastating wildfire fire and the recent heavy rains. The emphasis on collective responsibility echoed throughout the gathering, igniting a sense of unity among the attendees.

As Gogo Mndzebele stood before her new home, her heart swelled with gratitude. Living alone and having endured the trials of life, the new house represented more than just a roof over her head; it symbolised the love and support of her community. With tears of joy glistening in her eyes, she thanked the King for his generosity, a gesture that would forever change her life. Her elation was palpable, a reminder of the profound impact that simple acts of kindness can have on an individual.

Prince Muzi, speaking on behalf of His Majesty King Mswati III at Montigny, reinforced the importance of community solidarity. He made a heartfelt plea for Gogo Mndzebele to be protected and cared for in her new home, urging everyone present to ensure that she would never face such adversity again. The message was clear: the strength of the community lies in its ability to support one another, particularly its most vulnerable members.

As the sun began to set over Dwalile, casting a warm glow on the newly constructed home, the spirit of togetherness and compassion shone brightly. The Usuthu Royal Trust had not only provided shelter for Gogo Mndzebele but had also ignited a renewed commitment within the community to cherish and protect its elders. The promise of more projects to come lingered in the air, a hopeful reminder that the heart of the community beats strongest when it beats in unity.
