NHLANGANO – Get ready for a soulful sound that blends heart, heritage, and modern rhythm—Vavas is about to turn up the volume with his highly anticipated new single, “Ubong’fonela,” dropping June 20 2025, on all major streaming platforms.
Born Siboniso Simelane, the Nhlangano-based artist is known for weaving Swati culture into modern Afro vibes. His upcoming track explores the raw emotions behind long-distance relationships, with a sound that promises to get fans vibing and reflecting.
“A lot of relationships break because of distance, and I just want to remind those couples to always check on each other,” said Vavas.
Sung in both SiSwati and English, “Ubong’fonela” mixes local soul with a contemporary twist, making it as relatable in Mbabane as it is in Johannesburg—or even abroad.
The official cover art, designed by Destin Graffix, drops this Friday (13 June 2025) and, according to Vavas, it’s more than just artwork—it’s visual storytelling that sets the tone for the song’s emotional depth.
Produced by the multi-talented DJ Sandz Wae, the track features vibrant instrumentals and smooth production that complement Vavas’s signature vocals. Sandz handled everything from the beat creation to vocal recording, mixing, and mastering—ensuring a polished Afro groove with staying power.
“I’m a lover, so it’s easy for me to express emotions this way,” Vavas added, reflecting on how his musical upbringing and love for Afro soul shape his artistry.
With the buzz growing online, fans have already started flooding his DMs asking for early links. “I’ve been promoting it heavily, and the love has been real,” he said.
And this is just the beginning. Vavas teased that an EP is on the way, and he’s hoping this single will kick-start more bookings and live performances after a slow stretch.
“Thank you to everyone who’s been riding with me—I won’t disappoint,” he promised.
Whether you’re nursing a long-distance romance or just love soulful Afro vibes, “Ubong’fonela” is your new soundtrack for real emotions and feel-good beats.
