MBABANE— Eswatini’s Wordsmith Felix teams up with soulful vocalist Zinia on “Imphilo.”
The local music scene is set ablaze once again as talented DJ, producer, and songwriter Wordsmith Felix joins forces with rising vocalist Zinia to deliver a new single titled Imphilo, officially dropping on Friday, 31 October 2025. The track is a vibrant celebration of Eswatini’s growing Amapiano movement, infused with deep emotion, rhythm, and an authentic local touch.
Born Simangasethu Felix Dludlu, the 26-year-old creative has steadily evolved from a young rapper known as Young Smizzy into a versatile music producer with an ear for originality. His journey began back in 2009 when he was just 10, crafting lyrics over beats he downloaded from the internet. However, Felix soon grew restless with limitations and turned his focus to music production, a decision that marked the beginning of his transformation into the dynamic DJ now known as Wordsmith Felix.
Over the years, Felix has performed at several notable events, including the Eswatini Farmers’ Market, and built a solid reputation for his unique Amapiano sound, one that combines warmth, rhythm, and emotional depth. His latest offering, Imphilo, showcases this mastery, blending earthy percussion with a 3-step groove that instantly pulls listeners to the dance floor.
What makes Imphilo stand out even more is the soulful presence of Zinia, whose powerful and infectious vocals breathe life into the song. Together, they create a sound that’s both fresh and deeply rooted in Swazi musical identity. Supporting vocals from IAmWigo, who also penned the lyrics, add another layer of richness to the track, which was engineered by both Felix and Brainz.
“Zinia is a free-spirited artist confident in her voice and talent,” Felix shared. “Working with her was mind-blowing and genuinely inspiring. She’s a force to be reckoned with, and time will surely prove that.”
