MBABANE – Eswatini Hockey Association has launched a nationwide appeal for support as the country’s U14 and U18 boys’ and girls’ national teams prepare to represent the Kingdom at the Zimbabwe Youth Hockey Series from August 13 to 16, 2026.

The tour will see some of Eswatini’s most promising young hockey players compete against regional counterparts, providing them with valuable international exposure and an opportunity to showcase their talent beyond the country’s borders.

According to the association, the selected teams have been training hard in preparation for the tournament and are eager to fly the national flag high. However, participation in the series comes with significant travel and logistical costs, prompting a call for assistance from individuals, companies and organisations.

The association is inviting supporters to contribute through cash donations or by sponsoring raffle prizes. Officials said every contribution, regardless of size, will help cover transport, accommodation and other expenses associated with the trip.

Beyond competition, the tour is expected to play a key role in developing young athletes, building confidence and strengthening Eswatini’s presence in regional hockey. The experience will also expose players to different styles of play and help prepare them for future international competitions.

The campaign carries the message “Our Youth, Our Pride” and aims to unite the nation behind the young athletes as they pursue their dreams on the international stage.

Members of the public who wish to assist can contact the Eswatini Hockey Association through Cherene Thompson on +268 7602 0255 or Chermaine Rudd on +268 7626 4993. Updates on the campaign and preparations for the tour are also available on the association’s Facebook page.

As the countdown to Zimbabwe continues, the association remains hopeful that the nation will rally behind its young stars and help make the tour a memorable milestone for hockey development in Eswatini.
