MBABANE– Young people in Sithobela gained practical career skills, entrepreneurial knowledge and renewed confidence through an Eswatini National Youth Council workshop designed to prepare them for employment and business opportunities.
The Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC) has continued its drive to empower young people by hosting a CV and Business Plan Development Workshop in Sithobela, equipping participants with practical tools needed to pursue employment and entrepreneurship.
The workshop focused on developing professional curriculum vitae (CVs) and effective business plans, giving participants valuable knowledge that can improve their competitiveness in the job market while encouraging them to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path. Beyond technical training, facilitators engaged young people in meaningful discussions about changing their mindset, building self belief and recognising opportunities within their communities.
According to information shared on the Eswatini National Youth Council Facebook page, the workshop was about more than preparing documents for job applications or business proposals. It also sought to strengthen young people’s confidence, encourage positive thinking and help them develop the resilience needed to navigate today’s evolving economic landscape. The Council noted that participants actively engaged throughout the session, reflecting their eagerness to learn, grow and take meaningful steps towards securing their futures.
The ENYC further stated that it remains committed to creating safe and supportive spaces where young people can access guidance, practical skills and mentorship that enable them to make informed decisions and pursue their aspirations with purpose. The Council believes that investing in youth development contributes directly to stronger communities and a more resilient national economy.
The Sithobela workshop also highlighted the importance of combining employability skills with entrepreneurship development, recognising that not every young person will find formal employment immediately. By encouraging innovation, creativity and business planning, the initiative empowers participants to explore self-employment and become job creators within their communities.
As Eswatini continues to address youth unemployment, initiatives such as this demonstrate the value of equipping young people with both practical knowledge and personal confidence. With the right skills, mindset and support, many young emaSwati are better positioned to transform challenges into opportunities and contribute positively to the country’s development.
