LOBAMBA- Eswatini marked a historic milestone as His Majesty King Mswati III reflected on four decades of leadership during the 40/58 Double Celebration at Somhlolo National Stadium on April 24.
“It is with profound humility and appreciation that I stand before you on this historic occasion, marking 40 years as Ingwenyama and King of the Kingdom of Eswatini, and my 58th birthday,” said the King.
The King described the occasion as a moment of national pride, unity, and reflection. He emphasized that Eswatini’s progress has been driven by unity, cultural strength, and the collective efforts of emaSwati.
“Our journey has been anchored in our unbroken royal heritage and strengthened by prayers and the prevailing peace that you, the people of Eswatini, have so graciously bestowed upon this Kingdom,” he said.
Reflecting on the Ruby Jubilee, the King stressed that leadership is not only about time but about impact and vision for the future.
“As we celebrate this Ruby Jubilee, we are reminded that leadership is not measured by time alone, but by the legacy we build and the future we prepare,” he noted.
He paid tribute to past leaders, especially King Sobhuza II, acknowledging their role in shaping modern Eswatini.
“Today as emaSwati, we note and appreciate the role played by King Sobhuza II whose legacy shaped modern Eswatini,” he said.
The King also highlighted the importance of cultural identity, pointing to national ceremonies such as Incwala and Umhlanga.
“Our forefathers laid a solid foundation of respect, identity and cultural pride,” he said.
“As we conclude this 40th year, let the spirit of agape love prevail, in unity is strength,” he added.
