SIX EMASWATINI IN CRICKET LEVEL I UMPIRE TUTORS COURSE

MBABANE – There are six EmaSwati who are part of the attendees of the Cricket Level 1 Umpire Tutors course currently on-going at Bethel Court, Ezulwini.

The course is also attended by participants from countries including Botswana, Lesotho and Mozambique with the officiators being Master Tutors Lauren Agenbag & Tom Mokorosi. The attendees of the course will learn and develop their Umpire skills.

The course sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) was officially opened on Wednesday and it will last for the next three days with the attendees receiving certificates on Friday when the course ends.

The local attendees are Mancoba Jele, Ntombizodwa Mkhatshwa, Mbali Dlamini, Siphesihle Kubheka, Sohail Khan and Zenzele Mazibuko while Mandla Dlamini who is the Eswatini Cricket Association (ECA) Operations Officer is the overseer of the course.

According to the ECA, the six (6) umpires ready to develop their umpiring expertise and become certified ICC Level 1 Umpire Tutors.

Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC)’s Zama Tsabedze heaped praises to the cricket association for this skills development initiative.

“The Eswatini Cricket Association is currently hosting ICC Master Educators for a 3 day ICC Level 1 Umpire Tutors course at Bethel Court, whereby Umpires from Eswatini, Botswana, Lesotho & Mozambique will learn and develop their Umpire skills through the teachings of Master Tutors Lauren Agenbag & Tom Mokorosi,”reads a statement from ESRC.

Meanwhile, Cricket has a lot to celebrate as they were also crowned as the 2024 Outstanding Sports Association and they had Mandla Dlamini awarded the 2024 Outstanding Sports Administration during the National Sports Awards held last month at Esibayeni Lodge.
