MBABANE- Eswatini Zion Churches has taken the initiative to host a 2025 zion Cup which will feature a number of Churches vying for prizes and glory amongst themselves. The event will take place on the 24th of May 2025.
The Zion Cup, which is set to feature teams from different churches, including Faith in Christ, Ekuphiweni Stez, Kuphila KwamaKrestu, Isibaya Esikhulu, Isibusiso Ibandla Lenkhosi, Intando KaKrestu, Insindiso Yokukhanya Okusha, The Redemed Ministries, and Inhlokomo Yabazalwane among others, is a significant initiative that seeks to promote unity, development, and social cohesion among the zion nation. The tournament is expected to bring together people from different walks of life, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among participants and spectators.

The teams that are looking forward to joining will have to pay a joining fee which is E350 and awards are as follows: Champions will get a soccer kit, medals and a trophy second place E1000, and medals, then third and forth place will get E 500, and on the Netball category Champions will get E 1200 medals, and trophy and Second place runner will get E 600 and medals and third and forth place will walk away with E 400.
According to the director of the zion Cup organization Sizwe Mndzebele, the main aim of the tournament is to invite Police so that they can teach them about safety measures and know how to keep the community safe while conducting their activities. “We want to invite Police to come and teach us on how we can keep ourselves safe as we all know that Zion is conducive and Hist night vigils every now and then and we need to be taught on how to keep ourselves safe. We want to learn how to protect our property and our lives in case of a disaster that might occur in the midst of the event,” he said.
The Zion Cup is expected to be a huge success, with teams competing fiercely for the top prize.. With its focus on unity, development, and social cohesion, the Zion Cup is an event that promises to bring people together and promote a positive and safe environment in the country.
