MBABANE- Eswatini is set to ignite the courts once again with the highly anticipated 3rd Edition of the Scorpions International Volleyball Tournament, scheduled to take place from June 27th to 29th in Matsapha.
The event that aims to improve and appreciate local talent will feature international countries such as Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho. This event promises high stakes competition and a celebration of volleyball excellence as this is the 3rd Edition of Scorpion international volleyball tournament. The exact location of the event is yet to be disclosed.
Teams from across the region are expected to gather for a chance to compete for attractive prizes. The winner will walk away with E5,000, a trophy, and medals, while the first and second runners-up will receive E3,000 and E2,000 respectively, along with medals. The tournament continues to grow in prestige, attracting top talent and providing a platform for both local and international teams to showcase their skills. Registration for the tournament comes at a fee of E1,000, and interested teams are encouraged to secure their spots early.
According to Scorpions’ manager Afi Dlamini the event is all about improving volleyball in Eswatini. “This is a way of improving Volleyball in Eswatini by exposing local teams to different ways of playing and ensuring that continually advertise the sport” Dlamini said.
He further stated that hosting the tournament is a way of fast tracking young players development in the sport. “Us hosting an open tournament, we are trying to fast track their development in the sport and give them a lot of exposure.” He said.
The Scorpions International Tournament not only highlights the sport’s competitive spirit but also fosters camaraderie and community development through sports. Volleyball enthusiasts and supporters are urged to come out and witness an electrifying showdown in Matsapha.
