MALKERNS – Kota Festival returns with family fun in Malkerns!
Get ready for a mouth-watering day out as the Eswatini Kota Festival returns with a special Family Day edition, set to take place on September 27, 2025, at the scenic Malkerns Country Club.
This year’s festival is all about celebrating kasi culture, street food, and family vibes, bringing together the best Kota flavours from across South Africa and Eswatini. If you’re a fan of this beloved township delicacy, this is one event you won’t want to miss!
While the Kota – the iconic, loaded quarter-loaf sandwich – will be the star of the day, the festival also promises a packed entertainment line-up featuring well-known artists, adding music and energy to the flavour-filled celebration.
Designed as a family-friendly event, there’s something for every age group. Kids can enjoy a fun-filled zone featuring giant slides, PlayStations, jumping castles, bumpy rides, rock climbing, and more. It’s the ultimate day out for parents and kids looking to make lasting memories.
Early bird (Phase 1) tickets are officially on sale, but quantities are very limited. Tickets can be purchased online at www.kotafestival.com or in-store via Computicket outlets at Shoprite. The pricing structure includes options for children, students, adults, and even VIP tickets, which offer perks like backstage access and premium parking.
Cooler boxes are allowed but must be empty upon entry. All alcohol must be pre-ordered through www.ebevs.co.za. No alcohol will be sold at the venue. Camp chairs are welcome, and while hubbly pipes are not allowed from home, they’ll be available for hire at the event.
A wide selection of refreshments, snacks, and, of course, Kotas will be sold by vendors. VIP guests should note that no cooler boxes or pass-outs after 7 PM will be allowed in that section.
Gates open at 10 AM and close at 8 PM, giving festival-goers ample time to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, diverse eats, and nonstop entertainment.
Adding even more excitement, the event carries a “Military” dress-up theme – so come ready to serve looks as well as appetite!
And in support of local entrepreneurship, Kota vendors will get the chance to win a share of E10 000. Vendors can apply for stalls via www.storeller.co.za and bring their culinary skills to one of Eswatini’s most anticipated foodie events.
