MANZINI – Supporting the Elderly Through Community Action
Eswatini is calling on its citizens to help reunite families and safeguard the welfare of the elderly through the Asibambane Sibengumndeni Program, a heartfelt initiative designed to tackle family separation and neglect.
The programme provides support, resources, and guidance to those affected, ensuring that no elder feels forgotten or abandoned. Residents interested in participating can register at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) Stall, located under Hall 2 at the ongoing Eswatini International Trade Fair 2025 at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre. Importantly, the programme respects the privacy of participants, offering assistance even to those who prefer not to be filmed.
Community Responsibility at the Forefront
Honourable Senator Thulisile Dladla, Deputy Prime Minister of Eswatini, shared the importance of community engagement during her address at the DPMO stall. She encouraged citizens to report instances of neglect and actively assist in reuniting families, urging the public with the powerful message: “Buyani nibike banfu labadzala labalahliwe.”
Senator Dladla highlighted that caring for the elderly is a collective duty, and her call to action emphasises the need for awareness, compassion, and proactive involvement within communities. The programme aims to empower individuals and families to ensure that no elder is left unsupported or isolated.

At the DPMO stall, participants can access a range of supportive services, including essential counselling, emotional guidance, and practical assistance for families facing challenges in elder care. By providing these services, the programme seeks to alleviate the pressures on caregivers while reinforcing the importance of familial and community support.
