KWALUSENI – Eswatini’s rising creative powerhouse, Angel Zubuko, was crowned Miss Freshers 2025/26 at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Kwaluseni Campus.
The glamorous Freshers Ball was held on December 12, 2025, at the Ligcabho Lemaswati Sport Emporium, celebrating a triumphant year for the young woman known as ‘Just Angel,’ who seamlessly blends careers in modeling and acting.
Zubuko’s victory comes hot on the heels of her participation in one of the country’s biggest pageants, having recently been a finalist for Miss Teen Manzini in the Miss Teen Eswatini 2025/2026 competition. This consistent pursuit of the crown is testament to her belief that pageantry is more than just a fleeting moment in the spotlight.
For Zubuko, the Miss Freshers title is a powerful new launchpad for her most cherished initiative: the Youth Forever Charity Club. As the founder, she views the title as a vital tool to reach and inspire her peers on campus and across the nation.
“I wanted this title to amplify the Voice of the young leader in me, who aims to inspire the youth by leading them by example,” Zubuko stated. “My goal is to Grow Youth Forever Charity Club within UNESWA and help students achieve healthy minds and take care of their mental state.”
She intends to redefine the significance of the crown by breaking the trend of titles being purely ceremonial. “I hope to inspire the future freshmen by breaking the generational trend of ‘Miss Freshers is just a title there are no benefits to it.’ I plan to do so by being responsible, carrying out my responsibilities, and doing more by initiating projects and bringing them to life.”
Upon receiving the crown, she expressed her deep gratitude. “I’m grateful to God for winning the title, I’m excited to see what this journey has for me.” The Miss Freshers title, particularly in the hands of a visionary like Angel Zubuko, carries immense importance for incoming first-year students. The contest itself is a cornerstone of the university experience, offering a sense of community and inclusion for new entrants. For first-year students, having a Miss Freshers who is actively focused on mental health and leadership provides an immediate, relatable role model and a clear resource for support. Her commitment to breaking the “just a title” trend signifies that she is focused on tangible outreach, easing the often-challenging transition into university life and promoting a positive, proactive start to their academic journey.
