MBABANE –  In a move that signals the deepening maturity of Eswatini’s creative economy, luxury streetwear label Guzzani Clothing has inked a landmark partnership with football giants Mbabane Swallows.

The collaboration, branded as “SxG Wear,” merges the technical precision of high-end utility wear with the nation’s most fervent sporting culture.

The partnership represents more than a simple merchandise deal; it is a strategic alignment of two “BoSwenka” (stylish) powerhouses. “Guzzani is a very flexible brand,” says solo founder Linda Malinga. “I can identify it as a lifestyle streetwear that specialises in utility wear to modern streetwear designs that make one stand out. We do also follow trends and carefully create our products based on what’s trending without losing our identity.”

Malinga’s journey from a high school hobbyist to an award-winning industry leader provides a blueprint for local SME scaling. What began as a resourceful hobby—customising clothes for peers—has evolved into a professional manufacturing operation. The name Guzzani itself, a portmanteau of “Guru” and “Designer,” was adopted after supporters consistently pronounced it that way, earning it the title of “The People’s Brand.”

Unlike retailers that rely on mass-produced imports, Guzzani operates a dedicated workshop in Mbabane. Malinga emphasises a rigorous Research and Development (R&D) cycle that underpins the brand’s premium positioning. “Every fabric undergoes a test for a period of 3 months before it’s being used. This is to make sure that it’s environment-friendly and sustainable for use,” he explains.

The SxG collection centers on Guzzani’s flagship technical garments, specifically their sophisticated cargo pants. These items are designed to set supporters apart through complex tailoring rather than simple printing. “I would pick the cargo pants because everyone can make a hoodie with ease, but our cargo pants have that sophisticated look and are very challenging to make,” Malinga states. “It’s also categorized as a utility outfit which is our identity as a brand.”

The collection allows supporters to represent the “Beautiful Birds” in high-fashion silhouettes, featuring the club’s colors across cargo pants, dungarees, and custom tops. This move into sports-lifestyle collaborations is a key pillar of Guzzani’s 2026 expansion strategy, aimed at increasing the brand’s footprint ahead of international targets.

Despite his success, Malinga admits that navigating the industry as a lone creative is a challenge. He is currently opening doors for fresh creative minds to join the firm, intending to explore new ideas that merge modern textiles with colors unique to Eswatini culture. “This one is very much challenging more especially that I am still a lone creative, but the brand is looking to bring more fresh creative minds on board to explore new ideas,” he admits.

As Guzzani enters 2026, Malinga is shifting focus toward aggressive expansion and international visibility. “2026 is our year of making big moves,” Malinga declares. “I cannot reveal everything at this juncture but our customers must brace themselves for a different Guzzani in terms of growth and visibility internationally. The world will know who Guzzani clothing is through these upcoming collaborations.”

Supporters can secure their limited-edition SxG items by pre-ordering through Mbabane Swallows’ social media pages.
