MBABANE- Eswatini’s gospel powerhouse Nothando Hlophe has achieved a historic milestone as the first solo gospel artist in the country to surpass 4 million streams on Spotify with her hit single, “Methodist Medley.”
The song’s success extends far beyond Spotify, having also garnered over 7 million views on YouTube. “Methodist Medley” is a key track from Nothando’s latest album, “A New Dawn,” which made its grand debut on June 7, 2025, during a prestigious live recording at the Mavuso Trade Centre. The track stands out for its deeply personal and spiritual nature, artfully combining traditional hymns that shaped Nothando’s faith from childhood into a tapestry of sound that resonates with both nostalgia and reverence.
The medley invites listeners into a contemplative space where faith and memory merge, offering solace and inspiration. Its widespread appeal is rooted not only in its melodic richness but also in the profound emotional and spiritual connection it fosters among audiences across the region. The lyrics emphasize themes of divine protection and unwavering assurance, portraying God’s presence as a refuge amid life’s uncertainties.
The album “A New Dawn” has produced other notable successes, including the track “Sithumela Wena,” which has achieved over 1 million views on YouTube. Senator Shakantu is a pioneering figure in Eswatini’s creative industry, renowned for her groundbreaking work on the acclaimed film BakaNgwane.
