MBABANE– The Ministry of Education and Training is set to complete the nationwide delivery of stationery to primary schools tomorrow, Friday, 23 January 2026, ensuring that learners begin the new school term fully prepared.
According to the Chief Inspector for Primary Schools, Dr Thami Dlamini, deliveries have already been successfully carried out in northern Hhohho, Manzini and Lubombo regions as of Thursday. The final phase of the distribution exercise will cover the Shiselweni region.
“There has been significant progress, and our target is to complete all deliveries by tomorrow when we reach Shiselweni,” said Dr Dlamini. “By the time schools reopen, exercise books will be readily available so that pupils can begin learning from day one.”
A hive of activity was witnessed in areas such as Pigg’s Peak as the new school term draws closer. The Pigg’s Peak Regional Education Office was particularly busy, with approximately 73 primary schools from across northern Hhohho collecting their stationery supplies following deliveries from the Ministry.
School representatives were seen arriving throughout the day to ensure their institutions received the necessary materials in time for reopening, reflecting the urgency and commitment to preparedness across the region.
Dr Dlamini urged parents to play their part by ensuring that pupils’ exercise books are properly covered to prolong their use. “We encourage parents to make sure that exercise books are covered so they last longer and do not wear out within a short period,” he said.
He also issued guidance to parents of pupils who may be transferring to other schools. Dr Dlamini explained that pupils are expected to carry their exercise books with them when transferring, as these are allocated to the learner by government under their previous school registration.
“Only textbooks should be left behind when a pupil transfers to another school,” he clarified.
Dr Dlamini expressed appreciation to government for its continued support in providing learning materials to schools across the country. “We are very grateful for the support from government, which ensures that our learners are well equipped for their education,” he said.
Meanwhile, while many schools have already secured their stationery supplies, others continue to arrive at distribution points, all working towards the common goal of ensuring that learners walk into their classrooms on the first day of school ready to learn.
