MBABANE – The Catholic Nurses Guild will celebrate the 34th World Day of the Sick on Sunday, 22 February 2026, at Sacred Heart Parish.

The event will focus on care, healing, and solidarity with the sick and vulnerable. Bishop José Luis Ponce de León has called on the faithful and civil society to recognise the face of Christ in every person in need.

The celebration is part of the Diocese of Manzini’s wider efforts to support the vulnerable and promote health and spiritual care. On the same day, catechumens from all parishes will join the bishop at the Cathedral at 11H00 am to register for baptism at Easter. These activities reflect the Diocese’s commitment to faith formation and pastoral guidance.

Earlier this month, on Sunday, 8 February 2026, the Diocese officially launched Talitha Kum during the Day of Prayer against Human Trafficking at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. Talitha Kum is an international network of Religious Sisters dedicated to preventing human trafficking, protecting victims, and restoring dignity to vulnerable people, particularly women and children. The network works through awareness campaigns, advocacy, and direct support.

The bishop also reminded parishioners that priests staying at Pope Francis House are resting and recovering, and asked that pastoral matters be directed to other clergy.

The World Day of the Sick celebration, alongside the Talitha Kum launch and upcoming catechetical events, shows the Diocese of Manzini’s ongoing commitment to social justice, care for the vulnerable, and community empowerment.
