MBABANE– Mbabane Highlanders have strongly dismissed claims circulating about the club allegedly failing to appear before the disciplinary committee of the SMVA Ingwenyama Cup, insisting that previous postponements were formally communicated and understood by officials.

In a statement issued on 04 March 2026, the capital-based giants clarified that reports suggesting the club had neglected to present itself before the committee were misleading. The club emphasised that the two earlier hearings referenced in the ongoing matter were postponed for legitimate reasons that had already been communicated to the relevant authorities.

“On both previous occasions referenced, the hearings were postponed due to reasons that were formally communicated and are well known to the Committee,” the club explained. “Any suggestion that the club ‘failed’ to present itself without context is misleading and regrettable.”

The statement comes amid growing public discussion around the disciplinary proceedings connected to the prestigious Ingwenyama Cup competition, one of the most prominent knockout tournaments in Eswatini football.

The black-and-white outfit expressed frustration at what it described as attempts to create an inaccurate narrative around the situation. According to the club, the issue at hand is a serious matter that deserves responsible communication and balanced reporting.

“Mbabane Highlanders is not only disappointed but appalled by the attempt to push an inaccurate narrative around such a serious and sensitive matter,” the club said, stressing that matters of discipline and governance require careful and responsible handling.

Despite the controversy, the club reiterated its respect for the structures that govern the game and pledged its continued cooperation with football authorities. The club added that it maintains full confidence in the established processes used to adjudicate football matters in the country.

“As a club, we reaffirm our full respect for the structures established to guide and adjudicate our game. We remain committed to cooperating in a manner that upholds the integrity of Eswatini football,” the statement read.

The historic club also moved to calm its supporters and partners, assuring them that it remains committed to acting in good faith while protecting the integrity of the game.

“The Black Bull stands firm. Always forward,” the club concluded.

The developments are expected to remain closely watched by supporters as the Ingwenyama Cup disciplinary processes continue.
