LOBAMBA – Eswatini has earned continental recognition for its commitment to peace and inclusive governance, following the prestigious African Union Award for Effective Governance – Peace Division.
The accolade was received on behalf of the nation by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, marking a significant milestone that highlights the country’s enduring stability and governance model.
The award, conferred by the African Union through its Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department, acknowledges Eswatini’s effective use of the Tinkhundla system in promoting national unity, peace, and resilience. It further underscores the Kingdom’s growing influence as a contributor to regional and global stability.
In a formal presentation held at the Private and Cabinet Office, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye personally delivered the honour, symbolising the AU’s strong endorsement of Eswatini’s governance approach.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a powerful affirmation of the country’s governance framework.
“This honour confirms that our system is not only resilient but also responsive to the needs of our people. It strengthens Eswatini’s position as a beacon of peace, stability, and constructive dialogue across the African continent,” he said.
The award also pays tribute to the leadership of His Majesty King Mswati III, whose steadfast commitment to peace continues to guide the nation’s development trajectory and diplomatic engagements.
Reaffirming Government’s dedication, the Prime Minister emphasised that Eswatini will continue to champion peacebuilding, social cohesion, and inclusive governance.
“This recognition inspires us to deepen our efforts in fostering unity and advancing sustainable development for all emaSwati, while contributing meaningfully to the broader African community,” he added.
The honour places Eswatini firmly among Africa’s leading examples of peaceful governance, reinforcing its reputation as a stable and forward-looking nation.
