MAWELAWELA– Female inmates at Mawelawela Correctional Facility have praised His Majesty King Mswati III for showing them Agape Love and reduced sentences for well-behaved inmates.
This, they did through the Temajele Programme aired on national radio the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Service (EBIS) on April 21, 2026.
The female inmates were given the opportunity to send congratulatory messages to His Majesty the King ahead of the double celebration for his 58th birthday and 40 years on the Throne.
According to the inmates, the King has shown them Agape Love through rehabilitation programmes offered at the country’s correctional facilities.
This, they said included vocational trainings offered on the inside.
“We are grateful to His Majesty the King. We wish to congratulate him as he turns 58 years and for being on the Throne for 40 years. When we were taken in, we thought prison would be a very difficult place but we have since learned that we are not here to be punished but instead, to be rehabilitated for integration back into society,” said one inmate.
Another said they genuinely appreciated the love the King has shown them through reduced sentences for well-behaved inmates.
“We appreciate the King’s wisdom in his leadership of the country. It is clear that he is guided by God. We take note of the End of Year and New Year Opening Church Services he host every year. This shows that he is a man of God and he leads through God’s wisdom,” said another inmate.
One of the inmates given the opportunity to send a message to the King applauded him for his continued efforts to seek investors abroad who would come and facilitate development in Eswatini. She said despite the fact that they were on the inside, they took note of the continued development of the country, especially in as far as infrastructure was concerned.
“As for me, I knew very little about culture. I am from the Shiselweni region and people in my area did not know much about our culture. We thank His Majesty the King for introducing culture at our region, he has shown us love and appreciation, said an inmate.
Through the Temajele Programme, government and His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) continue to promote rehabilitation, dignity and the successful integration of inmates back into society.
