NKAMBENI — From the dusty streets of Nkambeni in the Hhohho Region’s Madlangemphisi Inkhundla, Penuel Ben Dlamini is emerging as a passionate young broadcaster determined to make his mark in Eswatini’s media landscape.
Dlamini’s journey into broadcasting began in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic when his church, Flowing in the Spirit Church and Ministries, introduced an internet radio station known as Fitsradio94. What started as a simple opportunity quickly became a life-changing experience, as he discovered his love for the microphone and storytelling.
“I found myself enjoying every moment behind the mic,” Dlamini said. “It became more than just speaking — it was about connecting with people.”
Through Fitsradio94, he gained practical experience in handling studio equipment and presenting programmes. Over time, his confidence grew, and his voice developed into one that resonates with listeners. The support from church leadership, particularly Bishop BK Mbhamali, played a crucial role in nurturing his talent and encouraging him to pursue broadcasting seriously.
After completing Form V in 2022, Dlamini took a decisive step towards his dream by enrolling for an Associate Degree in Journalism and Media at Limkokwing University in 2023. Now in his final year, he continues to sharpen his skills, combining academic knowledge with practical experience gained from his early days in radio.
Dlamini’s story is one of determination and faith. He believes that success comes from stepping out of one’s comfort zone and actively pursuing opportunities. Despite challenges such as unemployment affecting many young people in Eswatini, he remains optimistic and focused.
“Dreams do not chase you; you have to chase them,” he said. “If you stay committed and trust the process, doors will open.”
Looking ahead, Dlamini aims to grow within the media industry and use his platform to inform, educate, and inspire communities. His journey reflects the power of passion, perseverance, and the willingness to start small in order to achieve bigger goals.
