EZULWINI- Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has challenged Eswatini’s ambassadors to uphold the highest standards of integrity while embracing innovation to strengthen governance and national representation abroad.

Addressing diplomats during a consultative meeting in Ezulwini, the PM placed strong emphasis on ethics, accountability, and patriotism as critical pillars for effective diplomacy.

He highlighted that ambassadors carry the responsibility of representing not only government but the aspirations of emaSwati, urging them to conduct themselves with excellence and professionalism.

“As our representatives abroad you are expected to adhere to a strict code of ethics and behavioural standards that are beyond reproach,” he said.

A key concern raised in his speech was the impact of corruption on national development. The PM called on ambassadors to actively reject and expose any form of corruption, stressing that integrity is essential for sustainable progress.

“Corruption diverts vital resources that are meant for service delivery… wherever you see it you reject and expose it,” he said.

Beyond ethics, the PM encouraged diplomats to strengthen coordination among government departments to ensure a unified national voice when engaging international partners. He stressed the importance of presenting a coherent image of Eswatini in a competitive global environment.

“We should all be singing from the same hymn book in defending the image of the country,” he said.

He further urged ambassadors to champion Eswatini’s unique Tinkhundla system, describing it as a model of grassroots governance and social cohesion.

In response to shifting global dynamics and declining financial aid, the PM emphasized the need for innovation and adaptability. He encouraged diplomats to leverage technology and think creatively to unlock new opportunities.

“The complex challenges require us to rethink traditional methods and adopt adaptive strategies,” he said.

Importantly, he called for ambassadors to carry a strong sense of patriotism in their work, reminding them of their role in shaping the nation’s future.

“The willingness to defend our country… and the belief in what we can achieve,” he said, “must guide your actions.”

The address reinforced a forward-looking vision of diplomacy, one grounded in integrity, innovation, and national pride, as Eswatini continues to strengthen its global presence.
