NHLANGANO– The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Commissioner’s Cup returned in full force in the Shiselweni Region after a two-week break, bringing together police officers from across the country for a renewed display of sport, teamwork and regional pride.
Soccer matches were played at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium while volleyball and netball games took place at Ngwane College on May 6, 2026 , with teams from different regions and police formations competing in various sporting codes.
The tournament, attended by REPS executive command and officers from stations nationwide, continues to serve as a platform for promoting unity, physical fitness and stronger working relationships within the police service.
The National Commissioner’s Cup was introduced as part of broader wellness and integration initiatives within REPS, using sport as a platform to promote discipline, teamwork, physical fitness and healthy working relationships among officers. According to previous information shared by REPS, the competition also supports talent identification and encourages officers to maintain both physical and mental wellness while building stronger coordination across regions.
On the soccer field, Shiselweni produced one of the most entertaining encounters of the day after edging Police Academy 5-3 in a high-scoring contest. PHQ and Lubombo settled for a 1-1 draw, while Hhohho secured a narrow 1-0 victory over OSSU.Volleyball action saw Shiselweni continue their dominance with a 3-1 win over Police Academy, while OSSU defeated Hhohho 3-0.
In netball, Police Academy narrowly overcame Shiselweni 30-29 in a tightly contested fixture, while Hhohho delivered a commanding 63-18 victory against OSSU. The return of the tournament injected fresh excitement into the competition, with teams battling for regional pride as the games continue across different sporting codes.
The NATCOM Cup remains one of the key wellness initiatives within REPS, bringing officers together beyond policing duties and reinforcing the values of unity, discipline and sportsmanship through sport.
