MBABANE – The Ministry of Public Works and Transport continues to strengthen road safety and improve accessibility through its ongoing street lighting project, which has now successfully covered the Ngwenya to Motshane stretch along the MR3 Highway.
The project improves visibility, increases safety and creates a more accessible travelling environment for motorists, pedestrians and transport operators using one of the country’s busiest roads.
In a statement, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport said the newly completed stretch marks important progress in Government’s efforts to modernise transport infrastructure and improve road user experiences.
The Ministry installed streetlights along the route to help motorists travel more safely, especially during the evening and early morning hours when darkness often reduces visibility.
The improved lighting now allows drivers to see more clearly, navigate the road with greater confidence and respond more quickly to changing road conditions. Pedestrians and other road users also benefit from a brighter and safer travelling environment.
The Ministry continues to implement the project in phases and plans to extend street lighting coverage across the entire MR3 Highway. Through this approach, Government seeks to create brighter, safer and more efficient journeys for all road users.
The MR3 Highway serves as an important transport route connecting different parts of the country and supporting the movement of people, goods and services. By strengthening road infrastructure, the Ministry also supports economic activity and improves daily travel experiences for commuters.
The ongoing investment in street lighting demonstrates Government’s commitment to safer roads, improved accessibility and modern infrastructure that responds to the needs of citizens.
As the Ministry expands the project to additional sections of the highway, more communities and travellers will benefit from improved visibility, safer travel conditions and increased convenience on the road.
The continued rollout of street lighting along the MR3 Highway reflects steady progress toward creating a brighter, safer and more connected transport system for Eswatini.
