MBABANE– Rising musician Young Zesh has received a major career boost after South African rap heavyweight Big Zulu officially confirmed that the two artists will be collaborating on music.
The exciting development comes five months after Big Zulu first praised Young Zesh for his performance during the launch of Stush in the Bush in December last year. At the time, the Nkabi Records star publicly applauded the young Eswatini talent, saying: “I was really impressed by Young Zesh. This is the kind of talent we need to recognise and support.”
His comments immediately sparked excitement among music fans, many of whom had hoped to see the pair work together on a cross-border project.
The anticipation intensified five days ago when Young Zesh shared a video on TikTok performing a track from his upcoming album Tsandze’Masiko. In the post, the artist encouraged followers to tag Big Zulu, making it clear he was eager to secure the collaboration.
Fans responded in huge numbers, with the video attracting more than 17 000 likes and over 450 comments on TikTok alone.
Just three days later, Big Zulu finally gave supporters the answer they had been waiting for when he commented under the video saying: “Let’s do it, my brother.”
The short but powerful message instantly sent social media into a frenzy, with fans from across Southern Africa celebrating the collaboration and praising Young Zesh for representing Eswatini on a bigger stage.
Speaking about the moment, Young Zesh described the confirmation as one of the biggest milestones of his career.
“I’m incredibly excited and honoured that Big Zulu has officially agreed to work with me. His words, ‘Let’s do it, my brother,’ are a clear confirmation that this collaboration is happening, and that means the world to me. Big Zulu is one of Africa’s most influential artists, and having his support is a major milestone in my career,” said Young Zesh.
Fans also flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages, with many believing the partnership could elevate Eswatini’s music industry and expose local talent to a wider African audience.
One TikTok user wrote: “Wow, I want to congratulate you my brother for Big Zulu’s response. I’m your follower all the way from SA, Nelspruit.”
Another commented: “We believe in you and look up to you,” while another simply described Young Zesh as “My favourite Eswatini artist.”
The upcoming collaboration is expected to blend South African and local musical influences, with fans eagerly waiting for more details about the anticipated single.
